At Powerhouse we do not baptize infants (sometimes called "Christening") because wherever we find baptism in the Bible, it always follows a personal commitment to Jesus Christ by the one being baptized. Instead, we perform dedications, which are a three-part dedication of the baby, the parent(s), and our congregation.
Dedicating a child is making both a promise to God and a public commitment to raise that child in a godly way until he or she can make the decision on their own to follow God. At Powerhouse we believe that encouraging parents to build a solid foundation early in their child’s life is of utmost importance. We join with them to train their child in God’s Word, demonstrate an example of godliness, and learn how to discipline her or him according to God’s ways.
